Since its foundation in 1997, Affitech AS has grown to include a highly qualified and experienced staff of over 35 scientists and business professionals. Located in the Oslo Research Park, in close proximity to Oslo University and the Norwegian National Hospital, the Company has extensive collaboration with some of the leading research groups in Norway.
In September 2000, Affitech acquired Actigen Ltd (Cambridge, UK) from Active Biotech AB (Lund, Sweden). The strategic acquisition of Actigen has given Affitech important proprietary rights to antibody fragment purification tools. In addition to the rProteinL product range, Affitech also acquired a comprehensive package of associated intellectual properties.
In December 2001, Affitech established a wholly-owned subsidiary in the USA. The new subsidiary, Affitech USA Inc., is located in Walnut Creek in the San Francisco Bay Area. The subsidiary is the focal point of Affitech’s business development and marketing activities, and will concentrate on US and Canadian companies and academic institutions for strategic collaborations and partnerships.
In July 2003, founder and CEO Dr Ole Jørgen Marvik moved up to become a full Board Member with an active corporate advisory role, while the former COO, Dr Martin Welschof took over as CEO.
